I was fourteen when I moved to Atlanta in the summer of 1979 from northern New Jersey.
And in a few weeks, it was not a southern belle, but college football was my new love. I forgot about my old life.
In a few months, though, winter came and I had a total letdown as football ended.
But wait, I was a big hockey fan, specifically the New York Rangers. My new friends looked at me strangely, especially after the Rangers eliminated the Atlanta Flames in the playoffs and the Flames then moved to Calgary. No more hockey in Atlanta 🙁
And forty years later, I watch hockey almost every night. While it does not matter who is playing, but I have stayed a Ranger fan and became a Hurricane fan a few years ago.
With spring comes the Stanley Cup playoffs. The action is off the chart intense. Don’t blink as you can miss a goal with the announcer’s typical, “He shoots and he scores” and the fans going crazy!
It’s that same shot of adrenaline that I enjoyed as a sales rep in the wholesale business early in my career, the first time working with a new client in my search career, and I still get jazzed seeing my new (and existing clients) smiling at the end of a meeting.
