It’s Sunday morning, and it’s workout time.

I have a plan: A ten-minute full-body stretch. Then a thirty-minute full-body routine – legs, glutes, chest and back, shoulders, biceps, and triceps. Each exercise is 12 reps, 3 sets.

And then a ride on my Peloton bike.

At least that was the plan.

As I get started, I know this was not my day.

By the third set of weights, I complete only eight of the 10 lifts.

But I keep going.

On to the next set. This time I complete only seven of 10 lifts.

But I keep going,

There used to be a time when I would have ended my workout on the spot if it wasn’t going as planned. I’d “hit the wall” and stop cold.

Now, I start with a plan and get to work. I do the best I can. I keep going even if I’m not at my best.

Better to make some progress than none at all.

So it goes in fitness.

So it goes in business.

I’ve identified three key components for peak performance in fitness and business – Mindset, Motion, and Mastery. The Three-M’s are a team. They work together.

And this is what I reminded my client Kelly on Wednesday during our weekly session.

She looked exhausted. And frustrated. Like she was on a treadmill and could not get off.

After vetting for five minutes, I asked her what led to being exhausted and frustrated.

She said, “My two girls have been sick. We have been up three times each of the past three nights.”

And she continued, “and I need to deliver great talent for two searches and do not have viable candidates.”

We assessed the searches in question. Then, we built a search scorecard on the spot.

Then we graded each search for the eight criteria. And we looked at the total score on each.

We had one search that was an A-level search and another that was a B level. “She said, “I am exhausted and do not know how many calls I can make.”

“Don’t worry about how many; do it as long as possible,” I said.

After we developed a strategy for the week, she asked, “How do I do more A-level searches?”

To achieve more A-level searches you have to keep going (Mindset and Motion) and MASTER a four-part process. I will reveal this process at a thirty-minute lunch and learn workshop on Friday, June 3, at 1:00 pm Eastern.

Please reply with “lunch and learn workshop,” and I will share the meeting credentials and the worksheet for the exercise. Come ready to participate actively and have some fun.
